Feast of St. Edward the Confessor - Founder's Day

All Campus

When Father Sorin was President of Notre Dame, he discouraged any formal celebration of his birthday.  Instead, he allowed a day of prayer and festivities on October 13, the feast of his patron saint, King Edward the Confessor.  In this spirit, the Sorin bicentennial celebrations will crescendo in October.  Many campus units, including the Alliance for Catholic Education, the Center for Ethics and Culture, the Center for Social Concerns, the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism, the Division of Student Affairs, Hesburgh Libraries, the Institute for Church Life, the Office of Campus Ministry, and University Archives, and others, along with the Congregation of Holy Cross’ Office of Vocations, are planning events and programs aimed at deepening the campus community’s appreciation for Father Sorin’s life, ministry, and vision for Notre Dame.  All commemorations will be announced here at sorin200.nd.edu.
